As a sociology major, you’ll take courses in topics such as:
- Social science research methods
- Personality, culture and socialization
- Social organization
- Social theory and critical thinking
The curriculum explores sociology as the scientific study of human behavior. Students investigate the ways that human behavior is influenced by culture and social environment, integrating relevant theory and contemporary research. Students also learn how to utilize today’s technology to improve research methods.
Choose Your Focus
Bachelor of Arts in Sociology/Bachelor of Science in Sociology
Requirements include 18 semester hours of core classes in sociology, along with 12 semester hours in sociology electives.
Three-Three Law/Sociology Program
Pre-law students with high test scores and excellent grades may enter the Three-Three Program, which positions qualified applicants for early admission to Mississippi College Law School. Coursework in law and government, constitutional development, and legal research is included in the curriculum.

Participate in Pi Gamma Mu, the national honor society that seeks to improve scholarship in the social studies and achieve synthesis between its various disciplines. Join Sociology Club, our student organization for sociology majors and minors.
