CAB is a student organization responsible for planning various events throughout the year for the Mississippi College campus.
The goal of CAB is to engage students, provide unique and diverse entertainment for the student body, and to promote campus involvement in many different areas. MC is an amazing place with a diverse population, therefore, one of CAB’s goals is to highlight different areas of campus, while also creating events that reach all types of students.
Getting Involved- Join the CAB family!
CAB is comprised of approximately 30 students and one CAB chairperson. The chairperson is elected by the student body and serves on the Executive Council of SGA. The rest of CAB goes through an application and interview process led by the Director of Student Engagement, the CAB chairperson, and current CABbies. CAB applications and interviews on done each Fall and Spring semester. In the fall only freshmen and transfers can apply. Applications in the Spring are open to all students. Keep your eyes open for more information as applications become available each September and April.
Each year CAB brainstorms together to create new and exciting events to bring to campus, but there are a few events that are so good that they have become traditional.
Choctaw Fest is MC’s annual fall concert. Each year CAB showcases a couple of different artists that are on the rise. The event is always coupled with food and drink and takes place outside in The Bowl as we emjoy the end of the fall season.
Lighting of the Quad
Lighting of the Quad is a campus and community-wide tradition where we celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season. The event changes a little every year, but you can always count on hot chocolate, candy canes, and plenty of Christmas lights.
Miss Mississippi College Scholarship Pageant
The Miss MC pageant takes place at the beginning of second semester. The competition calls for any and all female Mississippi College students interested in being a part of the pageant. The pageant showcases each student in a number of areas including talent, evening wear, and interview. Contestants compete for an average of $2000 in scholarship awards and prizes. Interest meetings for contestants are held towards the end of the first semester. Watch your campus news emails for more details.
Cram Jam takes place at the end of every semester in the cafeteria where students can enjoy some late night breakfast food, an ice cream sundae bar, and various games to unwind a little before exams start.
Spring Fever Week
Spring Fever Week is a high-energy week of events during the spring semester. Many of the events change each year, but the week kicks off with a crawfish boil and includes a big concert as well as a variety of other events that ends the school year with a bang!
