Phi Theta Kappa at your community or junior college
Phi Theta Kappa is a national honor society that highlights the academic achievement of students in community or junior colleges. Students who are eligible to join Phi Theta Kappa while in community college can reap the benefits in the scholarships here at MC.
The key to being awarded Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship money is being involved in your community college’s Phi Theta Kappa before you transfer. Step 1 is to earn and maintain a 3.5 GPA for eligibility to enter the Phi Theta Kappa chapter at your community or junior college.
When you’re ready to apply to Mississippi College, indicate in the appropriate fields on the application if you are a Phi Theta Kappa member. Phi Theta Kappa members receive $1,000 per year ($500 if you live off campus) in addition to other scholarships and academic awards. It literally pays to maintain a good GPA and participate in community service projects.
Phi Theta Kappa at Mississippi College
Flash forward and now you’re a student at MC. Our Phi Theta Kappa Alumni chapter is large and active! The group collectively meets the first Thursday of every month. You must remain active in our Phi Theta Kappa Chapter to maintain your scholarship. Every semester our chapter participates in fundraisers and community service projects with organizations such as: Habitat for Humanity, Keep Jackson Beautiful, Mississippi Food Network, Blood Drives, and the Metro Jackson Heart Walk.
Within Phi Theta Kappa there is always an opportunity for leadership. Be a part of a team that leads one of the most active and prestigious organizations on campus.
