SECURITY PROCEDURES

EMERGENCIES
Be sure that you have read the Emergency Procedure Manual.  If you have a situation or questions regarding safety or security, call your supervisor, the Reference Librarian on duty, or the Night Supervisor if the situation allows.

In case of emergency, dial 9 911 (campus telephone) to contact off campus emergency services.  Dial 3911 from a campus telephone to contact Campus Safety and Security.

FIRE ALARM/BUILDING EVACUATION

In case of fire, notify the Reference Librarian on duty or Night Supervisor (if possible), pull the nearest alarm and evacuate the building by the closest exit.  Go to the front of Provine Chapel to meet with the other employees after an evacuation.

WEATHER EMERGENCIES

When the National Weather Service siren sounds, all students, patrons and library staff members are moved to the basement of the library.  The librarians on duty will determine when it is safe to leave the basement.

CAMPUS SAFETY AND SECURITY

Campus security personnel are on duty 24 hours a day.  Upon request, security officers will provide escort services from vehicles to buildings or from buildings to buildings should individuals feel uncomfortable or unsafe.  If you wish to be escorted to your car after work, call 601-925-3204 before you wish to leave (giving them adequate time to respond).  Do not take unnecessary risks in leaving the library late at night.
