Professor & Chair, Christian Studies and Philosophy
Welcome to Mississippi College! I look forward to meeting you!
My wife, Annice, and I are both natives of Georgia. I grew up on a farm and graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Animal Science. Annice and I moved to Tallassee, Alabama where I began serving as herdsman for the beef cattle genetics and nutrition resarch center at Auburn's main research station, located on I-85 in Milstead, AL. We joined Tallaweka Baptist Church in Tallassee, and about 4 years later, I surrendered to preach after attending an Evangelism Explosion training conference with my pastor.
In 1981, Annice & I (along with our two and one-half year-old son, Justin, and our two-month old son, Brandon) moved to New Orleans, LA where I attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. I received my M.Div. in 1984 and returned the next year to begin work on a Ph.D. in New Testament which I completed in 1991.
I have served three churches in Mississippi; Osyka Baptist Church in Pike Co. (while a senior seminary stuent); Madden Baptist Church in Leake Co. (5 yrs); and First Baptist Wiggins in Stone Co. (5 yrs). For over fourteen years I served as pastor of FBC Baton Rouge, LA, and then the Lord led me to Mississippit College in January of 2009. I currently serve as Professor and Chair of the Department of Christian Studies and Philosophy. Teaching at MC has been one of the greatest blessings that God has bestowed on me. I hope to see you in class!
