WELCOME TO Fall 2016 !
This term I will be teaching Business Skills for Life and Consumer Behavior.
What direction is our economy headed? What is the housing market like and will it soon change? What type of investments should I shoose for a long-term investment program? These are the types of questions GBU 151 will help you to answer.
Business Skills for Life (GBU 151) is a fast paced, exciting courses that deal with how you, as a student, apply the personal finance practices you learn to your own life. It is a practical course that should enable you to assess your current personal financial literacy, identify your personal finance goals, and develop and apply a personal finance strategy to help you achieve those goals.
As a consumer, you have a lot of experience in spending money. We drink, we eat, we dress, we ride, we shop, we play, we work, etc. Consumer decisions are sometimes simply, and other times extremely complex. Consumer Behavior (MKT 481) will help you as a marketer to better understand consumers in order to be more effecient in designing products and services that peovide more value and enhance the well-being of both the company and its customers - past, current, and potential.
To succeed in either of these courses you will need to attend each session and show up on time for each session prepared to discuss the materials assigned. In addition, you will need to read the textbook assignments, study the Power Point slides, participate in the in-class assignments, prepare the homework in order to do well on the tests.
I look forward to this term and hope to be well acquainted with you and your life goals as together we discover what personal finance and consumer behavior is all about.
