Welcome to my homepage. I have been at MC teaching nursing since January, 1998. I really enjoy the work I do and the people I work with. It is so rewarding to see my former students "all grown up" working as nurses and to realize that I played a small part in helping them realize their dream.
About MeI am married to Micheal Ferriss since 1975, and we have lived in Clinton since 1979. He has a small animal veterinary practice in Clinton. We have 5 children, mostly grown. Beth Durham (husband Davy)-both MC grads--have 3 darling daughters--Lily (7), Junie (5), and Bonnie (3); Patrick, a resident in Emergency Medicine at UMC with a precious son, Jackson (4) (can you tell I love my grandkids!?); Katie Bullock (husband Joel) graduated from MC School of Nursing and is currently working on a telemetry floor at UMC; Christopher a biology major here at MC; and Natalie a freshman at Hinds Community College in early childhood education. We are members of Morrison Heights Baptist Church. I sing in the Celebration Choir (at least I make a joyful noise!)
I received my undergraduate education courtesy of Uncle Sam during the Vietnam era (the end of it), and served as an Army nurse for 4 years. Following my discharge, I joined the Mississippi Army National Guard where I stayed for the next 24 years, retiring in 2003.
I am a member of the Mississippi Nurses Association and the American Nurses Association as well as the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society.
