Associate Professor, English
Welcome! I am Dr. Kerri Jordan, and I coordinate the writing concentration for English majors. I teach a variety of courses ranging from first-year composition, to creative writing and professional writing, to our senior capstone research course for writing and English education students. I've been teaching at Mississippi College since 2002.
I was born in Ruston, Louisiana, and I grew up in central Mississippi. I earned a Ph.D. in English from Louisiana State University (GEAUX TIGERS!), and my MA and BA degrees are both from Mississippi College. I also spent a year in Germany, where I studied at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz.
Here at MC, I served as Faculty Council President from 2014-2015. I was honored as Distinguished Professor of the Year in 2010, and in 2006, I was honored as Outstanding Young Professor of the Year. I've been involved in writing centers for over 20 years, and I currently co-edit The Writing Center Journal
. You can often find me at Cups (the coffee shop near campus) meeting with students about their writing, working on my own writing, or reading manuscripts for WCJ
In my spare time, I volunteer with RideABILITY, a therapeutic horseback riding program in Brandon, Mississippi, that provides riding lessons for students with a wide range of special needs. I live in Brandon with my husband Jim and our two rescue animals: kitty Tigger, who can talk, and dog Sarge, who can spell.
