Ravencraft is a strategic communications professional and educator. He is an experienced leader in managing and developing communication plans and programs. His service to the public relations profession includes state, regional and national positions.
He currently serves as Director of the Public Affairs Division for the Mississippi Department of Transportation, previously served as Regional Director of Communications for the American Red Cross and was employed at Mississippi State Hospital for 11 years serving as Strategic Planning Director, Human Resources Director and Public Relations Director. He has worked in transportation, education, healthcare and nonprofit, and for two of Mississippi's largest advocacy agencies.
He currnelty serves on the board of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Communications Committee and the adjunct faculty in the Mississippi College (MC) School of Christian Studies and the Arts Communication Department in Clinton. He is a Past President of the Southern Public Relations Federation (SPRF), the Public Relations Association of Mississippi (PRAM) and that organization’s Central Chapter in Jackson, and the Mississippi Hospital Association's Society for Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations.
Ravencraft has a master’s degree in communication from MC, a bachelor’s degree in journalism with an emphasis in public relations and a minor in marketing from the University of Southern Mississippi and an associate’s degree from Hinds Community College. He is a graduate of the Mississippi State University John C. Stennis Institute of Government and the Mississippi Certified Public Manager Program.
Ravencraft was named AASHTO's Public Realtions Professional of the Year, PRAM Central’s Advanced Practitioner, an SPRF Senior Practitioner, one of the Mississippi Business Journal’s “Top 40 under 40" and is a recipient of the Southern Miss George Godwin Public Relations Award. He has won numerous public relations awards throughout his career including top honors in the AASHTO TransComm Skills Contest, SPRF Lantern Awards, PRAM PRism Awards, MHA Society for Health Care Marketing & Public Relations Maggie Awards, College Public Relations Association of Mississippi (CPRAM) Awards, Healthcare Marketing Report Advertising Awards, National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) Awards, The Davey Awards and Council for Advancement and Support Education (CASE) Awards. He and his team were honored with Best of Show in 2015-2016 by the national AASHTO TransComm Skills Conteset, regional SPRF Lantern Awards and state PRAM PRism Awards for MDOT’s “Get Your Game On” travel resources campaign.
