As the Prince in Prokofiev’s The Love for Three Oranges Charles Ward of the Houston Chronicle said, “an impressive sound, (he) made the show work vocally.” Operatic credits include Rodolfo, The Duke, Nemorino, Alfred, & Tamino. Concert appearances include Das Lied von der Erde, Beethoven's Symphony no. 9, Messiah, & Carmina Burana. Heard on the Albany label as Paolo in Mancinelli’s Paolo e Francesca. Dr. Perna is Assistant Professor of Voice and Voice Pedagogy at Mississippi College. Graduate degrees from the University of Miami & the University of Houston. Teachers include David Alt, Jerold Siena, & Joseph Evans. He is a Presser Music Foundation awardee and currently a voice research associate at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Presented research on three continents. Publications include Journal of Singing & Journal of Voice. An active NATS member, as a past Governor of the WV District & a past Vice-President of the Tri-State Chapter. Previous faculty appointments at West Virginia University & New World School of the Arts.
