In an effort to help our international students with the expensive cost of studying abroad, Mississippi College and the Office of Global Education are happy to provide financial aid to many full-time international students! This is for international students who are not already receiving full or substantial scholarships from other sources.
All qualifying international undergraduate students are provided $800 in financial aid each semester for their first two semesters of academic study as long as the students maintain a 2.5 GPA or above. To reward academic excellence, the Office of Global Education will double the financial aid of students who obtain a 4.0 GPA (or straight A’s) in their first semester. Please note, however, that financial aid for undergraduate students is only provided for the first two academic semesters. Once students have completed their first two semesters of academic study, they must apply for the merit-based scholarship offered through the Office of Global Education. Please see more information about the merit based scholarship here.
All qualifying international graduate students are provided $650 in financial aid each semester as long as they maintain a 3.0 GPA or above. As with undergraduate students, graduate students who obtain a 4.0 GPA (or straight A’s) in one semester will have their financial aid doubled for the following semester. This consideration is made each semester and only applies to semesters following a semester where the graduate student made all A’s.
You may qualify for scholarships from other sources that would allow you to fund your education at MS College. Please review the following scholarship opportunities to see of you qualify:
If you are from Belgium: http://www.arcafoundation.org/for-grant-applicants/
If you are a woman in graduate school: http://www.peointernational.org/ips-eligibility-requirements
This scholarship is available for international students who are classified as sophomores, juniors, or seniors in their undergraduate academic program at Mississippi College. Qualified applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher in the previous semester. Students should apply through the Office of Global Education only. Scholarships are given based on evaluation of GPA, documented involvement and leadership activities, and a personal essay. Scholarship awards are from $1,000 to $5,000 per year. Evaluation will be made by the International Student Scholarship Committee.
The Merit-Based Scholarship Application should be downloaded and completed electronically. Handwritten applications will not be accepted. The application is two pages, so be sure to complete the entire process. Once it is completed, please send the entire application complete with your personal essay to firstname.lastname@example.org and MCOGE@mc.edu. Once the application is submitted, you will receive a confirmation of receipt. If you do not receive a confirmation, please call Ms. Phala Echols at the Office of Global Education to be sure your application was received.
The merit-based scholarship application may be submitted once a year. Students who started academic study at Mississippi College during the fall semester must submit applications before July 15 at 5:00 PM of the following year. Applications must be submitted after at least two semesters of academic study. If an application is not submitted, then that student will NOT receive ANY form of financial aid ( i.e. merit-based scholarship) from Mississippi College or the Office of Global Education after their first two semesters of academic study.
*Please note that academic study does not include any time spent in the Intensive English Program.
Incomplete scholarship applications will not be considered. Remember! If an application is not submitted, then no scholarship will be rewarded.
