Clinton Seniors Receive Help at 2016 Health Fair

2016 Senior Appreciation Day Health Fair

Mississippi College student nurses will be out in full force at a free health fair to benefit  senior citizens in the Clinton area.

The annual Senior Appreciation Day Health Fair is set for April 11. The four-hour program on Monday will reach out to Mississippians who are 50-years-old and up.

Blood pressure checks, the latest health information, health screenings, snacks and entertainment are all part of the day’s activities.

The MC School of Nursing and the Clinton Parks and Recreation Senior Program will sponsor the program. Thirty-six MC nursing students will offer their healthcare expertise to the visitors.

There will be plenty of vendors on hand at the health fair at the Clinton Community Center at 111 Clinton Boulevard.

Representatives from Humana, the Mississippi Insurance Department, the Mississippi Department of Mental Health, the Clinton Fire Department, St. Dominic New Directions, St. Catherine’s Village, Comfort Keepers and many others will advise seniors about their healthcare needs. The 2016 event in the Magnolia State is well-timed, May is Senior Appreciation Month.

“Each year we reach out to individuals age 50 and over who are in search of relevant information for this stage in their lives,” says Mississippi College nursing student Abby Thompson.

For area seniors, the health fair in Clinton is always a valuable program that shouldn’t be missed, rain or shine.
