Madison-Ridgeland Academy and Mississippi College Sign Agreement

A new agreement establishes tuition discounts between Mississippi College and Madison-Ridgeland Academy.

In late April, MC President Lee Royce and the MRA school leader Termie Land signed the agreement that goes into effect August 1.

The agreement opens the door for a tuition discount for children of MC employees to attend MRA. In addition, it allows for tuition discounts for dependents of MRA faculty and staff and MRA students to attend Mississippi College.

“We are very excited to be partnering with such a fine university as Mississippi College,” Land said. “This reciprocal relationship will provide educational opportunities from pre-school to college graduation for the Christian leaders of tomorrow.”

Opened in 1969, MRA is one of the outstanding members of the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools. With a Christian emphasis, the private school’s mission is “to educate the mind, body and spirit.”

From kindergarten through the 12th grade, Madison-Ridgeland Academy enrolled 945 students in 2013-14.

With over 5,000 students, MC remains America’s second oldest Baptist college, with beginnings dating back to 1826.

“We are proud of this arrangement and look forward to working even more closely with MRA to provide higher education within a Christian environment,” says Jim Turcotte, vice president for enrollment services and dean of students on the Clinton campus.

There are other benefits to the MC-MRA partnership.

In the future, Mississippi College admissions staffers and others will come to the Madison-Ridgeland Academy campus to do a little recruiting.

The event, Turcotte said, will “engage their students in a conversation about furthering their education at MC.”

Over the past eight years, Mississippi College has attracted between three and six MRA graduates annually. With this new agreement, those enrollment numbers are expected to grow.
