MC Hosts Transfer Orientation July 9

Allison Hayden is anxious to get started to earn her accounting degree at Mississippi College.

To make this fall's transition to MC go smoothly, the May 2009 Hinds Community College graduate will attend transfer orientation on the Clinton campus. The sessions are scheduled for Thursday July 9.

A Florence High graduate and incoming junior, Hayden will join scores of other transfer students meeting with MC administrators. They will also learn the basics of financial aid, residence hall life, and academics. Activities begin with an 8:30 a.m. check-in and breakfast that Thursday morning at the B.C. Rogers Student Center.

Speakers will include Chad Phillips, executive director of enrollment services, Ron Howard, vice president for academic affairs, Karen Lindsey-Lloyd, director of career services and Rick Hartfield, director of student life. Parents are invited to a 10:30 a.m. session with school leaders.

Lunch will be served to students and family members at 1 p.m. in Anderson Hall to wrap up the day's events. Each year, hundreds of new students transfer to Baptist-affiliated Mississippi College. With orientation under their belts, the transfer students should be ready for fall classes beginning in late August.

There is a separate orientation for incoming freshmen July 10-11 on the Clinton campus.
