MC Staff Club Welcomes Christian Humorists

FBC Madison staff members Mark Coon, Sandi Komurke, Shari Hurt, and Bart Harrison
Christian humorists from First Baptist Church in Madison supplied the laughs and dished out words of wisdom at a Mississippi College Staff Club luncheon.

Led by Assistant Pastor Mark Coon, a four-member company of church staffers spiced things up as they focused on a message of love and what the Bible says about the ageless subject. The love theme was appropriate Wednesday on the Clinton campus - coming on the heels of Valentine's Day.

Messages like "Love Endures All Things'' and "God is Love'' were mixed with funny reflections on love and relationships as MC staffers feasted on fish, vegetables, cheesecake and iced tea.

Joining Coon for the presentation: Sandi Komurke, administrative assistant, Shari Hurt, secretary to the pastor and Bart Harrison, the facility manager at the 2,700-member Baptist church in Madison.

The MC Staff Club is an organization of employees at the Christian university. The group gathers for fellowship and lunch once a month. Upcoming meetings include a trip to the Mississippi College School of Law in downtown Jackson in March, and a visit to Providence Hill Farm, home of the Mississippi College equestrian team, in May.

In April, the MC Staff Club is inviting Ballet Magnificat, a Christian dance group, for a return performance on the Clinton campus.

The MC Staff Club is active boosting fund-raising efforts. The group recently donated $165 to Community Animal Rescue & Adoption or CARA, the no-kill animal shelter in Jackson, said Staff Club member Angie Miller. The group also made a donation to the 4Cs organization in Clinton.

Lynda Street, secretary at the School of Christian Studies and the Arts, is serving as MC Staff Club president this year. Membership dues are $7 annually.
