Mississippi College to Host Senior Art Exhibit Mosaic

The 2014 graduating class from Mississippi College’s Art Department will host the program’s senior exhibit Mosaic at the Gore Galleries on the Clinton campus April 26-May 9.

A collection of notable pieces from each student will be on display in the gallery, offering an impressive visual representation of their accomplishments at Mississippi College.

“In my 62nd year on faculty, I am a fellow student still learning at age 86,” says internationally celebrated artist and MC art professor Dr. Sam Gore. “I see myself in the work of these students as I too have ‘been there and done that’ and I identify with the work done by each.”

Artists featured include Mississippians Joyce Bledsoe of Pelahatchie, Brandi Hoxie of Vicksburg, Laurie Waits of Hattiesburg, Mandy Wilson of Laurel, and Dorothy Hawkins and Marguerite Williams of Jackson.

Others include Kathryn Abigail Gore of Collierville, Tenn., Bethany Sarah Sootheran of Andover, New York, and Yang Ning Guo of Taiyuan, China.

The department invites the community to attend an artists’ reception on Saturday, April 26 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Gore Galleries.

The show will remain at the galleries on the Clinton campus at 199 Monroe Street through May 9. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and Tuesday evenings from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Parking is provided behind the First Baptist Church Clinton Activities Building.
