Opportunities to see Freud’s house in London, the Louvre museum in Paris, and Holocaust victim Anne Frank’s residence in Amsterdam await Mississippi College travelers in 2017.

It’s all part of a 10-day History of Psychology tour in Europe. The dates are May 21-30. The cost per person is $3,964.

Up to 20 people will take the memorable journey led by Mississippi College psychology professor Michael Mann. MC students, alumni, university employees and other interested Mississippians are invited. By mid-October, eight travelers signed up. The deadline to apply is January 10.

There are several noteworthy destination points booked on this spring tour. The first flight takes travelers to London. Big Ben, the Piccadilly Circus, the Parliament, the British Museum, and Charles Darwin’s house in Kent, England are among the stops on the to-do list. The infamous Jack the Ripper tour in London is one that shouldn’t be missed!

Viewing the home of Freud, one of the world’s most influential men in the field of psychology in the late 19th Century and beyond, is something that travelers cannot find in a college textbook. A native of Austria, Dr. Freud studied psychology at the University of Vienna.

In addition, visitors in London will take in the sights at Bethlem, the royal hospital that made history as England’s first mental institution. Next stop, Paris, and there are too many attractions to count, from the Eiffel Tower to scenic café dining.

Mann will teach a History of Psychology in Europe class on the Clinton campus in the spring. His course is designed to prepare travelers for the journey overseas.

Costs of the trip to Europe include all airline and train fees, lodging, all breakfasts, some dinners, museum fees and much more. Besides scheduled stops on the tour like the Van Gogh Museum, visitors will get time to explore London, Paris and Amsterdam on their own.
