Providence Hill Farm’s sporting clay range features 15 stations nestled in a wooded area providing one of the top courses in the world.
Additionally, there is a skeet range and a duck flush where shooters can improve their shooting skills. The team members are coached by a certified shooter.
Through this team all members will be provided with a shooting experience unmatched by any other university in the state. Team members will be given expert coaching by both the team coach and local professionals. They will also have the opportunity to be a part of two competition shoots per semester at sporting clay ranges across the central Mississippi area as well as compete against other college teams.

The Sporting clay team competes in local and regional tournaments in both the collegiate and open divisions. Each year the team selects the top six shooters to represent the college in the NCSA in San Antonio, TX. This is a national competition that includes a collegiate division of the best shooters in the nation. During the ACUI Collegiate Sporting Clays competition in spring 2012 the team placed 3rd in both the Five Stand and Sporting clays for Division 3.
Team Membership and Practice Sessions
Team membership and participation is for the entire academic year. Team members will be required to take 8 team lessons and extra practices as needed throughout the year. Most practices will be scheduled in the afternoons to accommodate students' class schedules.
All students are encouraged to provide their own shotguns, attire, and equipment related to shooting. We make an effort to provide hats and vests for each team member for competitions. Gun safety is paramount in everything we do in the sporting clay program. MC covers all coaching fees and travel expenses for the team at the San Antonio competition. Team members are assessed a small fee each semester to participate on the team. Each team member will be required to pay for miscellaneous expenses for local and regional competitions and local practices not at the farm.
Each student will receive one Physical Education department credit for each semester of participation.
