FAQs
Winter session offers undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to further their educational goals. All winter session courses will be delivered online through Canvas.
During winter session, students can get a head start on the upcoming semester, complete core course requirements, take classes within majors, and earn extra credits to accelerate graduation.
Session dates: December 14, 2026 – January 8, 2027
No class activities will be held on December 24, 25, January 1, and weekends.

New students who are pursuing a degree or certificate at MC are not eligible to take the Winter session their first term.

To see available classes, choose from a list on the Banner class schedule page and select the Winter 2027 term.
Due to the compressed winter session calendar students may take no more than six credit hours.
Only students in good academic standing should consider enrolling in winter session.

Winter session courses are billed separately at the tuition rates above. Financial aid cannot be applied directly to Winter session courses, and Winter credit hours do not count toward financial aid eligibility.
However, if your pending Spring financial aid is sufficient to fully cover both your Spring and Winter balances, your Winter classes will not be dropped for non-payment, and your Spring refund will automatically apply toward your Winter balance.
If your Spring aid is not enough to cover both balances, you must pay the remaining Winter balance out of pocket by the payment deadline to avoid being dropped.
Winter Session is a standalone term. Winter credit hours cannot be combined with Spring semester hours to determine financial aid eligibility, scholarships, or full-time status for reporting (such as insurance).
Additionally, Winter courses are billed separately by credit hour and do not apply to the Spring tuition cap. If you live on campus or hold a scholarship requiring campus residency, you must still maintain a full 12-credit load specifically in the Spring semester.
No. Winter Session is a standalone term, so Winter credit hours cannot be combined with Spring semester hours to meet the 12-hour requirement for MC scholarships. To maintain eligibility for MC scholarships (as well as state aid programs such as MTAG, MESG, HELP, and FAITH), students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours specifically within the Spring semester alone.
Financial aid cannot be applied directly to Winter Session courses, and Winter credit hours do not count toward financial aid eligibility (including Pell Grants) or enrollment status. The cost of Winter Session is billed separately on a per-credit-hour basis and is the responsibility of the student.
However, if your pending Spring financial aid package exceeds your total Spring balance, those excess funds will automatically protect your Winter classes from being dropped for non-payment. Any remaining Winter balance not covered by Spring financial aid must be paid out of pocket by the payment deadline.

No, like the summer term, all institutional scholarships, including the Speed Scholarship and all athletic scholarships, cannot be applied to winter session courses.
