About MeI am a 1977 graduate of Mississippi College with a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Education from the Department of Religion. After graduation from MC I felt a sincere call to begin nursing school. I attended the University of Mississippi School of Nursing at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. I received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1980 from the University of Mississippi. I completed the Pediatric Nurse Associate Program at the University of Mississippi School of Nursing in 1982 and completed the Master of Science in Nursing with a clinical emphasis in Critical Care Nursing and a functional area emphasis in Nursing Administration in 1992. Since 1992 I have taken post graduate courses also at the Univeristy of Mississippi School of Nursing. I have worked in various roles in nursing from Staff Nurse, Unit Education Coordinator, Assistant Nursing Manager, Nursing Manager and Director of Nursing Services at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center.
I am married to Sandy Barker Lewis, a Mississippi College 1970 graduate in Biology. Sandy and I have one son Andrew Channing Lewis. Andrew (Drew) is married to Allison Hollifield Lewis and they have one daughter Stellan Ann Channing Lewis. Sandy and I attend Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon, MS.
Nursing has proven to be a very exciting career, I am able to minister to people both spiritually as well as physically. I encourage you to pray about your career choice and look to God for his guidance in making this decision.
