Mississippi College

Jeanette Jarmon

As we enter the last phase of our class, I hope you are developing a greater awareness and appreciation for our God-given creative natures. I hope you will continue creating your own works with diligence, thought and care. We still have artwork to do, notes to take and tests! Stay focused on your schoolwork until the very end. And remember the quote, 80% of Life is Showing Up!

About Me

I have had a passion for drawing and then Art of all kinds starting very early. My emphasis is in drawing and painting, mainly oils and acrylics.  I have expressed many moods and thoughts but now with more uplifting and encouraging meaning. I also enjoy beading and three-dimensional work with found objects and occasional crafts. As a full time artist, I am working on originals and getting prints of my work out to the public via wholesale/retail sales in a more affordable avenue of t-shirts, bags, cards and prints.  I have a Masters of Ed./Art degree from MC and am nationally board certified to teach Art, grades 7-12.  My art career includes writing and receiving grants on the city, state and federal levels along with teaching in public and private schools.  A National Endowment for the Arts grant provided for me to create a 12 hour video series called THE CREATIVE CHILD for which I wrote a published resource manual. THE CREATIVE CHILD instructed caregivers on how to develop creative thinking skills for children 3-18 years of age and aired on Mississippi Educational Television for professional development credits.  The series also won an award at the Columbus, Ohio, International Film and Video Festival.  Another grant came from the Federal Bureau of Justice in conjunction with The Mississippi Museum of Art that allowed me to be Artist in Residence for the Federal Correctional Facility in Yazoo City. MS. Currently I am Artist in Residence for the Baptist Healthplex on the MC campus where a collection of other artists' work and mine is exhibited and for sale.
