My name is Kenisha Wheeler Gordon. I am currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology and Counseling, in the School of Education, at Mississippi College, located in Clinton, MS. I am originally from Amite, LA. I received both my graduate and undergraduate degrees from Southeastern Louisiana University, in Psychology and Counselor Education, respectively. I also graduated from the University of Mississippi in 2008, where I received a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. My dissertation was entitled “Multidimensionality of peer victimization and patterns of relating”. During my tenure at the University of Mississippi, I was awarded the Outstanding Doctoral Student in Research from the Department of Leadership and Counselor Education. I was also inducted into Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
Prior to working at Mississippi College, I began at Alcorn State University, where I was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology and Education. I taught Counselor Education courses, as well as served on various university committees.
I am a National Certified Counselor, a state Licensed Professional Counselor, an Approved Clinical Supervisor, and a Registered Play Therapist. I am involved in several professional organizations, such as the American Counseling Association, Association of Counseling Education and Supervision, and the Association for Play Therapy, as well as service organizations, such as Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. My interest areas are attachment issues and working with the child and adolescent population. I currently reside in Jackson, MS, with my husband.
