Welcome to Spring 2013!
Welcome to Mississippi College and the Department of Art. This is an exciting time in the life of our department. This year we added a second new degree to our program -- the Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Studio Art (BFA). This follows the addition of the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Degree in Graphic Design in 2012. Also, on Friday, February 8, 2013 we launched our new Department website. You may now locate us at art.mc.edu.
Our enrollment is growing and our students are producing quality work. We have a great art faculty. They are all committed to teaching and at the same time toward perfecting their studio skills. Visit our department and you will see many additions and new faces in our program. Our Interior Design program is now accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA). We have a new faculty member Margie Baumann joining us this fall in that program. Our new MFA Degree in Graphic Design starts this fall with Mr. Karlos Taylor joining our staff to launch that program. Mr. Ben Ivey has joined our staff to coordinate the undergraduate graphic design program. We have several remodeling projects going on in our department this year, including the new Farr Hall facility for Interior Design and remodeling in the Drawing and Mac labs, Kenneth M. Quinn Library, and Aven Computer Lab. In addition, the Baptist Healthplex and Pimentos Cafe on campus feature the work of MC art students, faculty, and alumni. All of this is the product of growth and continued success in teaching. Please drop by for a visit!
