About Stephen D. Cook

Stephen D. Cook, M.F.A., is Professor of Art at Mississippi College.  A native Mississippian, Mr. Cook studied with the late Marie Hull in the early 1960's and has worked in art all of his life. He is an alumnus of Mississippi College ('73), and obtained his Master of Fine Arts degree with a printmaking major, from the University of Mississippi in 1975, also studying painting and drawing.  He was a University Fellow.  He then went to England as an ITT International Fellow for a year of study in printmaking at the Royal College of Art, London, gaining a Short Course Certificate in Printmaking.  His prints and other artworks are in a number of public and private collections, including the etching, "Stone Circle," in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.  He has been a consultant and arranged two exhibitions for the Mississippi Museum of Art, "The Age of Rembrandt," featuring many of that artist's etchings, and "The History of Printmaking:  Prints from the Sara Virginia Jones Collection," and for both of these he wrote the bulk of the interpretive material.  He has lectured before numerous audiences, including the Visual Arts Academy of Cluj, Romania.

At Mississippi College, Mr. Cook teaches printmaking, painting, and drawing, and he directs graduate work.

Mr. Cook is listed in "Who's Who in American Art" and “Who’s Who in America.”
