Scot E. Long
I have been at Mississippi College since 1997 when I was the first exercise physiologist hired by the Baptist Healthplex. Shortly after starting at the Healthplex I became a strength & conditioning coach for the Lady Choctaw basketball team and then an adjunct instructor for the former Department of Family and Consumer Sciences. I now teach full time in the Department of Kinesiology where my specialty is personal training and principles of strength & conditioning. I have also taught at Belhaven College in the Exercise Science Department and several places overseas including England, Thailand and Taiwan. Currently, I am the strength & conditioning coach for Revolution Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & Combat Sports in Clinton and former exercise physiologist for Velocity Sports Performance Performance in Ridgeland. From 1999 to 2010, I wrote fitness articles for the Clarion Ledger, the Clinton News and Jackson Metro Christian Magazine. 2012 marks my 6th year pursuing my doctorate (PhD) in Human Performance at the University of Southern Mississippi where I hope to graduate in the spring of 2013. I have been a personal trainer and personal trainer instructor for over 20 years. If it involves nutrition, hard-core fitness and human performance I love it!
About Me
"Pure enjoyment comes from activity of the mind and exercise of the body." -ALEXANDER VON HUMBOLDT“Pain is just weakness leaving the body.” UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS---General Lewis B. "Chesty" Puller
“Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless - like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle, you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend”. – BRUCE LEE
Caine: "Is it good to seek the past, Master Po? Does it not rob the present"?
Master Po: "If a man dwells on the past, then he robs the present. But if a man ignores the past, he may rob the future. The seeds of our destiny are nurtured by the roots of our past."
Kung Fu (1972)
