Choctaw Energy Savers
Tip of the week
Water Use for Summer:
- Turn off the hose when washing your car. Keeping the hose running the entire time you are washing the car wastes water.
- Fix dripping faucets. A dripping faucet on average leaks 3,000 gallons per year.
- Save your flushes. Do not use your toilet as a trashcan. Every time you flush your toilet, a lot of water is used.
- Take shorter showers.
Choctaw Conservation Award
The winners of the Choctaw Energy Award for the January 1, 2013 to March 31, 2013 period are the Registrar's Office and the Office of Financial Aid. The staff members in these offices share the South Basement in Nelson Hall. Under the leadership of Dr. Ginger Robbins and Ms. Karon McMillan, the staff members have exhibited exceptional efforts in turning off computers, printers, and lights in their office space. During every random office audit, 100% of the staff received "Complete Shutdown" recognition sheets. The efforts of the staff members in these two offices represent the very best in our attempts to conserve energy and reduce our monthly energy bills.
The next winner will be announced in the first week of July. The audits will cover April 1, 2013 to June 30, 2013. I would like to encourage everyone to become an energy saver. Every effort, regardless of how small, contributes to our university total.
