The Department of Communication annually awards thousands of dollars in scholarships to incoming students and returning Communication majors. Scholarships for Incoming Freshmen
Communication Alumni Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to an entering freshman Communication major with a minimum 2.50 high school GPA. The priority deadline for this scholarship is February 15 for students who plan to enroll in the following Fall semester. All applicants must be accepted to Mississippi College. Award amounts are dependent on annual performance of scholarship endowments.
Scholarships for Current Students
The following scholarships are awarded annually by a faculty committee:
Arnold Hederman Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a Mississippi Collegian staff writer or any student engaged in any journalistic effort on campus.
Billy Lytal Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior Communication major with a concentration in Public Relations or Digital Media Production with a minimum 3.00 GPA.
William Alfred Middleton, Jr. Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a Communication major with a Journalism or Public Relations concentration with preference given to a student minoring in English.
Lindsay Carole Miller Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a Communication major with a minimum 3.00 GPA and who is a leader in his or her church and community.
Bob Pittman, Jr. Journalism Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a first-year Communication student with a concentration in Journalism.
Hollis and Julia Todd Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a sophomore Communication major.
