Supplemental Endorsement Areas of Licensure
MDE Approved Programs
The following supplemental endorsements can be added to a valid, Mississippi Educator license for the candidate who completes (or is working towards completion of) a teacher education licensure program. The number of required, semester course hours and specific coursework for the supplemental endorsement area has been approved by the Mississippi Department of Education as a MDE Approved Program. Each candidate must successfully complete and earn a "C" or higher in all of the prescribed coursework at Mississippi College.

- Driver Education (7-12)
- Early Childhood Development (PreK-K)
- ESL - English As A Second Language (K-12)
- Gifted Education (K-12)
- Health Education (K-12)
- Mathematics Education (7-12)
- Media Arts (K-12)
- Physical Science (7-12)
- Remedial Reading (K-12)
- Special Education (K-6 & 7-12)
- STEM (K-12)
Other Supplemental Endorsements
For candidates in teacher education licensure programs, supplemental endorsements in the following areas can be added to an initial Mississippi Educator license. A candidate must complete 18 semester hours of approved coursework in the specific content area earning a grade of "C" or better in each course. For the Elementary Education candidate, English (7-12), General Science (7-12), Mathematics (7-8 ONLY), or Social Studies (7-12) may be added to the initial educator license by completing two (2) areas of concentration consisting of 18 hours of coursework in each of the two (2) areas. In this case, some applicable Education (EDU) courses may be used in lieu of content area courses to meet the 18 semester hour requirement.
