Prestigious Postgraduate Scholarship Opportunities Await Graduating MC Students
There are a variety of options for graduating Mississippi College students to continue their academic pursuits in postgraduate experiences abroad. These prestigious awards offer great experiences that will enhance the well-rounded undergraduate experience at MC. Graduates can teach or study, earn degrees, and enhance their marketability with these scholarships on their resume.
Students should begin the scholarship application process in their junior year. To inquire about these opportunities, please contact the faculty representative for the scholarship you are interested in.
The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is the largest U.S. exchange program offering opportunities for students and young professionals to undertake international graduate study, advanced research, university teaching, and primary and secondary school teaching worldwide. In partnership with more than 140 countries, Fulbrighters will meet, work, live with and learn from the people of the host country, sharing daily experiences. The program facilitates cultural exchange through direct interaction on an individual basis in the classroom, field, home, and in routine tasks, allowing the grantee to gain an appreciation of others’ viewpoints and beliefs, the way they do things, and the way they think.

The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program was created in 1986 to encourage outstanding students to pursue careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering and to foster excellence in these fields. Candidates will have had the opportunity to participate in research, either at his or her institution, in local industry, or in a national research facility. Abilities and potential are also shown through meeting significant responsibilities, involvement in science-related organizations, and accomplishments outside the classroom.

The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation awards college students who wish to attend graduate school in preparation for careers in government or elsewhere in public service. The Foundation defines public service as employment in government at any level, uniformed services, public-interest organizations, nongovernmental research and/or educational organizations, public and private school, and public service oriented non-profit organizations. Students will receive leadership training, graduate school counseling, preferential admission, and merit based aid to some premier graduate institutions, and internship opportunities with federal agencies.

The Rhodes Trust is a fully funded, full time, postgraduate award which enables talented young people from around the world to study and pursue degrees at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom for two or more years. Rhodes Scholars are chosen not only for their outstanding scholarly achievements, but for their character, commitment to others and to the common good, and for their potential for leadership in whatever domains their careers may lead. The Rhodes Scholarship covers Oxford University course fees, as well as providing an annual stipend.

As future leaders, with a lasting understanding of British society, Marshall Scholars strengthen the enduring relationship between the British and American peoples, their governments and their institutions. Marshall Scholars are talented, independent and wide-ranging, and their time as Scholars enhances their intellectual and personal growth. Their direct engagement with Britain through its best academic programs contributes to their ultimate personal success. The Marshall Scholarship is available to study at any British University in any subject at graduate level. Candidates are advised to find out all they can about British Universities and the availability of their chosen program of study or research since facilities vary from one institution to another.
