Skills, knowledge needed for this major:

• Write press releases, scripts, or other promotional materials with attention to details
• Create powerful images with sight, sound, motion & words
• Ability to write clearly and speak effectively with influence and persuasion
• Reporting and editing skills
• Use critical thinking and interpretation skills needed to compare and contrast evidence and to evaluate information and sources
• Planning and managing skills; work with deadlines
• Identify and manage different needs of individuals, groups, etc. 

Develop your resume: 

• Work for the college station, WHJT-FM
• Write articles for the Collegian
• Participate in theatre productions, on-campus and off-campus
• Join the Speech and Debate Team
• Become an active member of PRAM (Public Relations Association of Mississippi)
• Compile an up-to-date portfolio and demo tapes
