Dr. David H. Magers is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Dr. Magers joined MC’s faculty in 1989 and currently teaches Chemical Dynamics, Chemical Energetics, Advanced Inorganic Chemistry, Theoretical Chemistry, Chemistry Literature, and Chemistry Seminar. His areas of expertise include quantum chemistry, molecular electronic structure and spectra, many-body theory, and ab intio many-body methods.

Dr. Magers has been awarded the Distinguished Professor of the Year (2005), Chemistry Alumnus of the Year (2011) and the Carol C. West Faculty Advocate Award (2018) by Mississippi College. In 2003 he was also awarded Mississippi Chemist of the Year by the Mississippi Section of the American Chemical Society.

Dr. Magers directs the Mississippi College Computational Chemistry Group, the most prolific research group on campus. Since the group's inception in 1994, over 665 student talks and posters have been presented.
