As of August 1, 2024, Microsoft provides 2 distinct Office 365 licenses to Faculty, Staff and currently enrolled Students for use on their personal devices for free for the duration of your employment or enrollment at Mississippi College.
- Students qualify for a "Microsoft 365 Apps for Students" license which provides access to both Office web apps and installed apps.
- Faculty and Staff qualify for a "Office 365 A1 for Faculty" license which provides access to only Office web apps. If Faculty or Staff require the installed versions of Office apps, we recommend that you consider purchasing a subscription through the "Microsoft Workplace Discount Program".
What is Microsoft 365?
- Microsoft 365 is a suite of applications that includes Access, Excel, InfoPath, Lync, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word.
- Microsoft 365 is a four year subscription for full and part time, enrolled university and college students, faculty and staff. University Alumni are not eligible for Microsoft 365.
- Microsoft 365 allows users to download Microsoft Office on 5 devices (laptops/desktops) + 5 mobile devices (iPhone, Android) + 5 tablet devices (Surface, iPad).
Note: Installing additional languages on a computer that already has this version of Microsoft Office doesn't count against your install limit (5).
If you are looking for cloud based Microsoft Office applications, Information Technology recommends you try Google Drive, which is already accessible to all Faculty, Staff, and Students via your MC email account. Google Drive can be accessed by clicking the APPS icon(9 little squares) at the top right of your email account, and choosing Drive. For more information on Google Drive, visit Google Drive Help.
