For all students who are interested in purchasing a new computer, we would suggest a laptop rather than a desktop. We have wireless internet access in many locations throughout the campus including all residence halls - a map shows coverage here. We also suggest using Microsoft Office for Mac or PC.

NOTE: Students are responsible for their own computer repairs and maintenance. Please consult with your advisor for any recommendations specific to your department of study.
The following specifications are minimum recommendations for computers:
Windows
- Processor: Intel i5/AMD Ryzen 5 or greater
- RAM: 8GB or greater (16GB recommended for better performance)
- Storage: 256GB SSD or greater (SSD recommended for faster performance)
- Network: Wireless network card (Wi-Fi 6 recommended), Wired network card (Ethernet)
- Software: Microsoft Office 2019 or later (Office 365 subscription recommended)
- Security: Updated antivirus software
- Additional: USB personal printer recommended (Students can print at the library for a small fee. More information here: Papercut Print Management)
Mac
- Processor: Any Apple Silicon (M1 or later) or Intel-based Mac (Intel i5 or greater)
- RAM: 8GB or greater (16GB recommended for better performance)
- Storage: 256GB SSD or greater
- Software: Microsoft Office 2019 or later (Office 365 subscription recommended)
Notes
- Operating System: Ensure your operating system is up to date (Windows 11 for PCs and macOS Ventura or later for Macs).
- External Drives and Ports: Consider external USB drives and multi-port adapters for additional connectivity.
- Backup: Regularly back up important files using cloud storage solutions or external drives.
