IEP Application and Admissions Requirements:

All prospective students should apply on-line at https://go.mc.edu/apply/. There is a one-time, non-refundable $50 application fee, which can be paid online or at the Business Office in Nelson Hall on campus.

Students planning to go into Academic Degree programs may refer to mc.edu/admissions/why-mc for information on the programs offered at the university. Applicants must submit:

  • a copy of a transcript
  • a copy of the diploma from your school
  • a copy of the bank statement
  • a copy of the passport

Upon enrollment, students admitted via the MC Pathways Program (conditional admission) and who have not taken any of the language proficiency exams may take the Intensive English Program placement test* to determine correct placement. Students who do not score high enough on the placement test to enter full academics may choose to either enter the IEP or the Pathway Program. The Pathway Program allows students to take one or two IEP class to continue strengthening their English skills and also take two or three classes in full academics.

Any student who successfully passes the Advanced Level of the Intensive English Program will be admitted to full academic study and will not be required to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score. Please, see the IEP Handbook for more information regarding placement and exit scores.

Students interested in studying in the IEP ONLY to improve their English skills but who are NOT seeking a degree from Mississippi College can apply for IEP-ONLY admission. These students only need to fill out the IEP application and do not need to submit any academic documents other than a copy of their passpost and bank statement. But they need to take the IEP Placement Exam and be placed according to their performance.

* The IEP and Office of Global Education reserve the right to request a student to take the IEP Placement Exam to verify a submitted test score. The IEP and Office of Global Education will use their discretion when placing students.

IEP Placement Test

The Mississippi College Intensive English Program Placement Test is designed to assess a student's English language skill. The Reading, Listening, Grammar, and Vocabulary sections are multiple choice and provide the IEP with a clear understanding of a student's proficiency level. There is also a written component consisting of a timed essay. Based a student's performance on this placement test, he/she will be placed into either the Intensive English Program or the Pathways Program (please visit our Classes page for more detailed information on the specific IEP classes).
