Alternative Resources
With many of the traditional tools experiencing heavier-than-normal loads, you may have to consider alternative tools and resources to use to distribute your content to students. These following are publicly available tools that may not be provided by Mississippi College but may be useful as you rapidly move your class online.
Google Calendar
Moodle
Use Moodle to manage course content and interact with instructors and classmates. It provides online access to assignments, syllabuses, discussion forums, class lists, announcements and more.
Video Publishing
- YouTube - Videos marked as unlisted can be shared by a direct links.
- Vimeo - Videos uploaded to Vimeo are publicly viewable, but can be added to Moodle and/or Canvas.
- Microsoft Stream - Videos can be uploaded to MS Stream and shared with other users at MC.
Online Lectures
- Microsoft Teams - Teams can support up to 250 users.
Zoom

Use Zoom to meet using video, voice, and screen sharing with instructors and classmates. Participants can attend via phone, computer, mobile device, or video conferencing endpoint. Here are some best practices for securing your virtual classroom using Zoom.

Google Hangouts
Google Hangout Training
Google Hangouts is a messaging service with video capability that is included in your MC G Suite account. Through July 1, 2020, all G Suite customers can use advanced Hangouts Meet features, like larger meetings (up to 250 participants), live streaming, and recording.

- macOS Screen Recording
- iOS 13 Capture - Record your screen from your iPhone or iPad.
Course Materials
VitalSource
The program offers free access to tens of thousands of eBooks to faculty and students who may have lost access to course materials as the campus moves to online courses. To access the collection, create an account using your MC email and follow the instructions to search and “check out” up to seven eBooks through May 25, 2020.
