Nearly 500 prospective Mississippi College students from ten states will travel to attend Fall Preview Day activities on November 16.

It’s going to be a busy Saturday when President Blake Thompson and other members of the Christian university’s family toss out the welcome mat to potential new MC Choctaws. Some visitors are coming from states as far away as California. The bulk of the guests will take the road trip to Clinton from across the South.

Activities begin with a 9 a.m. welcome from school leaders at Anderson Hall. During the day, future students can attend classes, learn about academic programs and size up dozens of organizations on the Clinton campus.

Parents are invited to soak up details from university officials during sessions on financial aid and scholarships. A total of 1,182 guests, including parents, are registered, says Michael Wright, assistant director of undergraduate admissions.

At 11:30 a.m., MC faculty will convene at Alumni Gym to tell visitors about academic programs in such areas as business, education, Christian studies, nursing, the arts and sciences.

Tours of the cadaver lab in the Lee Royce Medical Science Building along College Street will begin at 12:30 p.m. There will be plenty of time Saturday for a delicious tailgate lunch and tours of the Clinton campus.

Prospective students interested in Mississippi College’s equestrian, bass fishing, clay shooting and archery teams are invited to Providence Hill Farm at 1 p.m. The open house at the scenic 2,000-acre farm in Central Mississippi lasts until 2:30 p.m.

Packed with activities, Fall Preview Day will conclude with the annual MC football game with rival Delta State. Kickoff at Robinson-Hale Stadium is set for 2 p.m.

The Gulf South Conference gridiron teams in Mississippi will battle to decide the winner of the 2019 Heritage Bell trophy. It will also mark Senior Day for Choctaws football players and families.
