Higher Education Resource Website Lists Mississippi College Among State’s Best Online Universities
One of the most well-regarded online resources for students navigating the higher education process has named Mississippi College the best private online university in the state for 2022.
University Headquarters, an Internet site devoted to offering information about distance-learning opportunities for students seeking degrees at the associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate levels, has listed MC as the top private university on its list of Best Online Universities and College Programs in Mississippi.
UniversityHQ considered graduation rate, net price, average graduate salary, retention rate, reputation, and student-to-faculty ratio while developing its proprietary ratings system of qualified universities and colleges to ensure accuracy and applicability for all distance-learning students.
Dr. Keith D. Randazzo, assistant professor of kinesiology, director of institutional effectiveness, and one of MC’s foremost voices in online instruction, said the UniversityHQ ranking reflects the quality of the instruction distance-learning students can expect to receive from Mississippi College.
“MC faculty and staff work very hard to provide a high-quality, affordable, and enjoyable experience for our online students,” Randazzo said. “Every part of the online process, from streamlining applications to providing virtual financial aid and virtual career services counseling, is intentionally thought out to support our online students. In our courses, our faculty work very hard to provide flexibility while still keeping students engaged.
“Our faculty facilitate learning communities through group breakout discussions and real-time meetings with professors to provide students the support they need to be successful in their courses. As MC faculty and staff, we work hard because we are called before Christ to be good stewards of everything we’re given, which includes online, but receiving recognition is always exciting and very much appreciated.”
UniversityHQ included only properly accredited colleges and universities offering credible online courses in its rankings of the best online programs in Mississippi. The organization considered the overall quality and affordability of each institution before releasing its rankings.
According to UniversityHQ, in Academic Year 2020-21, more than 65 percent of undergraduate and graduate students in the state took at least one online course. The total student population in Mississippi was 165,760, including 142,167 undergraduates and 23,623 graduate school students. Of these, 41,277 students were enrolled exclusively online, while 67,263 others were enrolled in some distance-learning courses.
In its methodology, UniversityHQ stated, “Our goal is to provide pertinent data that keep students informed, allowing them to make the best academic decisions possible. We perform thorough investigations and assessments to develop a list of top online programs available in the state.”
Thanks to MC’s robust distance-learning programs, the opportunity to obtain a high-quality education from Mississippi College isn’t limited to students in the state or region. Online options mean individuals from around the world can obtain the knowledge, skills, and academic experience they need to be successful in their chosen fields.
MC’s online degree programs may be particularly appealing to nontraditional students who work full-time or may have other obligations that prevent them from attending in-person classes. Flexible scheduling and learning options, combined with reasonable tuition rates, can make distance learning a viable option for obtaining the education necessary for professional success.
