MC Career Fair Welcomes Outstanding Employers

Leaders from school districts around the state will visit Mississippi College to recruit students.

They’re coming from Clinton, Pearl, Vicksburg, Tate County, and Madison County schools, to name a few, on March 12.

The MC Office of Career Services event Friday (from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.) invites students to network with employers under one roof at Anderson Hall.

“I am thrilled to host an event strictly for the School of Education,” says Office of Career Services Director Taylor Ormon. MC education professors do “such a great job getting their student teachers prepared and informed about our career-related events.”

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, plenty of school district officials will recruit in person on the Clinton campus as well as virtually. “We are looking forward to helping our student teachers start their career path,” Ormon added.

MC School of Education leaders will be on hand as well.

“We are delighted to welcome our partner schools and prospective employers to our campus,’’ said School of Education Dean Cindy Melton. “Our students are so grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many fantastic school districts.”

On Tuesday, Clinton High Principal Brett Robinson and lead CHS counselor Dana Wright offered career advice to students. Robinson and Wright are MC graduates. Students received tips on resumes and suggestions to improve their interviewing skills. The Office of Career Services sponsored the event.

Every year, Mississippi College is a fertile recruiting ground for Clinton Public School District officials. More than 60 percent of the district’s faculty and staff are MC graduates. That includes Clinton Superintendent Tim Martin, who often attends Career Fair events at his alma mater.

On Wednesday, MC hosted a Career Fair for 43 employers, both in-person and virtually. Employers attending included the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the University of Mississippi Medical Center, the U.S. Navy, St. Dominic Hospital, FBI, and WJTV-Channel 12 in Jackson. Recruiters from Community Bank, MEA Medical Clinics, MC Law School, and Shelter Insurance were also part of the 2021 Career Fair.
