Texas Pastor Gene Wilkes Speaks at Mississippi College

The pastor of Legacy Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, Gene Wilkes will be the guest speaker at the Evangelism Lectures at Mississippi College February 6-7.
Wilkes has authored numerous books, including “Jesus on Leadership” in 1996 and “Evangelism Where You Live,” which he co-authored with Steve Pate in 2008.
Dr. Wilkes serves as resident fellow with the B.H. Carroll Theological Institute in the areas of church leadership and New Testament studies. He also serves as an adjunct professor at Dallas Baptist University’s Graduate School of Leadership in Texas.
Over the years, the evangelism lecture series at Mississippi College brings outstanding speakers who share fresh ideas and interesting topics with faculty, staff and students at the Baptist-affiliated university in Clinton.
Burn Page, the chairman of the Department of Christian Studies & Philosophy, announced the visit by Wilkes, who’s been the senior pastor of Legacy Church since 1987.
During his stay in Clinton, Wilkes will also speak to hundreds of MC students as part of the spring 2012 chapel lineup at 10:50 a.m. February 7th at First Baptist Church Clinton.
Wilkes is a 1975 graduate of Baylor University. He received a master of divinity and doctor of philosophy in New Testament Studies from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Kim, have been married since 1975. The couple has two daughters and a granddaughter. The pastor’s hobbies include riding, writing and running.
