Overnight Guest Policy
This policy is sensitive to every resident's need for a level of privacy in their residence hall, the balancing of rights among residents, and the need for safety and security.
All guests must comply with all Residence Life and Mississippi College rules and regulations. The resident hosting the guest is responsible for the actions of his/her guest and will be held accountable for any damages or inappropriate behavior while the guest is in the residence hall or on campus. Guests must be escorted throughout the building at all times by the hosting resident. Guests are not permitted to visit residence halls other than the one in which they are registered. Guests must also be the same gender as the residents who live in the building.
Roommates should always confer about all guests in advance of a visit and agree that the guest is not an imposition. If the roommate(s) does not agree, the guest cannot stay overnight.
All guests (Mississippi College students and non-students) must be registered at least 48 hours before their arrival and receive the approval from the Residence Life Staff before the guest can stay in the residence hall. Spouses and significant others cannot stay overnight for any amount of time with a hosting resident. Mississippi College residents may only have an overnight guest stay with them for a maximum of two nights per month. Notification of approval or denial will be sent within 24 hours of submission. All guests must be 18 years of age or older (this includes family members) and have a valid photo ID.
Requests for visits extending beyond two nights will be reviewed on a case by case basis and must be approved by the Residence Life Staff for your residence hall. Overnight guests are not permitted during periods where the College is closed for breaks or holidays.
