One of the best things that I’ve found about MC Recruitment is the relaxed nature of it all. There are so many things people never told me and I feel like it would be helpful for PNMs. Here are my tips to those beginning recruitment:
1. No one cares what color your hair is or how expensive your dress is.
Not a single tribe picks students because they will look good in pictures. Each tribe intentionally tries to get to know you. They want to know your story and what makes you, YOU! So don’t stress about wearing the right thing or looking a certain way.
2. There’s no rule about NOT saying what tribe you like.
Contrary to popular belief, you CAN tell a tribe that you’re interested in them. The beauty of MC recruitment is the mutual selection process. Not only is it allowed but it’s highly encouraged! Tribes want to know if you are interested, so tell them.
3. Your potential tribe will not be the only friends you make.
Yes, you will make a lot of friends in the tribe you rush, but your friendships won’t stop there. Most of my friends are in a different tribe than me. Don’t worry about rushing what your friends rush. You should rush the tribe where you feel at home.
4. You won’t get dropped.
No matter what, you’ll be in a tribe and that should take a lot of pressure off you.
5. Recruitment is passing; friendships are lasting.
No one will really remember what you wore or how much makeup you wear. The relationships and connections you make as a part of a tribe are what are long-lasting and impactful. So stop putting so much pressure on yourself for everything to go perfectly because in the long run things will work out just as they should.
